En esa ciudad, que podría estar extraída de una película, la fina arena de una playa en el desierto brillaría en la oscuridad bajo una luna artificial.
Es un proyecto de 500.000 millones de dólares que MBS quiere hacer realidad más pronto que tarde. Llamada NEOM, estaría situada al norte del mar Rojo, en la región de Tabuk, y tendrá una extensión de 25.500 kilómetros cuadrados, la misma que Bélgica, por ejemplo.
En la ciudad, MBS pretende generar 700.000 empleos y acoger a un millón de habitantes, que serán rastreados gracias a la tecnología inteligente con reconocimiento facial y redes 5G como estándar.
La robótica se encargará, desde controlar la seguridad y la logística, hasta la notificación de delitos, el cuidado de las personas o las entregas a domicilio, y pretende, con ello, suplantar en 2030 al centro tecnológico estadounidense Silicon Valley.
Pero no sólo eso, sino que también quiere, con Neom, sustituir al Hollywood del entretenimiento, o a la Riviera francesa como lugar de vacaciones. Neom contiene, además, un proyecto de modificación genética para hacer más fuerte a su población. Un ambicioso proyecto para uno de los hombres más ricos del planeta y que, ahora, ha desembarcado en la Premier League.
