Former Libyan PM Ali Zeidan was arrested a few days ago by a group of armed men at the Victoria Hotel on Khaled Ben Waled Street, opposite Omar Mukhtar Street, both in Tripoli. All indications are that they are members of the Brigade of the Tripoli Revolutionaries of Haytham Tajouri (TRB).

Informal sources indicate that this group was executing an order issued by Attorney General Sadiq Al-Sour. The Council of the Presidency (CP) has not reacted yet to this detention, but it can be the beginning of a criminal case for alleged corruptions made by this former agent.

Zeidan was already expelled by the Libyan Parliament in 2014 and this one went to Germany. He returned to Libya several times, during one of which he said he was still prime minister. This year he returned again and visited a number of cities and cities such as Tobruk, Beida, Benghazi, Zintan, Sebha and Youfra.

It was after being in Sebha last month that a discussion broke out about his claims that while he was in the city, he had asked for Libya's division. Zeidan strongly denied any involvement in any political program or vision that would affect the Libyan unity.

However, it is considered that this former Libyan leader has returned to the country to recover his previous position and that he was positioned against the pretensions of the supporters of the son of Gaddafi, Saif al Islam, so that this one regains the power. But when certain confidential information about alleged payments to a president of another African country and others related to his management is known, he has been detained.
